What is j-views?

j-views is a loose consortium of contributors who have some special knowledge of Japan, who wish to share this knowledge with others in the world.

In this way, it is hoped that j-views will help to shed some light on this (at times) somewhat mysterious country, which has been going through a period of "interesting" times recently.

It is hoped that most of the facets of contemporary Japan will be covered in substantial detail: politics, economics, technology, classical culture, popular culture, etc.

j-views does not pay its contributors, nor does it ask for payment from them.

If you wish to read these contributors' articles and viewpoints, you are welcome to do so free of charge.

All material remains the copyright of the contributors and therefore j-views will take no legal or any other responsibility for material published on the site.

j-views also runs a number of mailing lists ("Mailing lists"), which you may wish to join to make your own contributions to j-views.

How does j-views make money?

The short answer is that it doesn't. However, if you like what you read from one of the contributors to j-views and decide to use the contributor as a writer, journalist or consultant, that will put money in the contributor's pocket, and will justify the site's existence.

If the quality of the information we are offering seems to justify such an action, we will start making chargeable mailing lists, etc.
